This project was a prompt to create a vignette based off the ancient tale of Gilgamesh, the first hero. The story being extremely old it had a very interesting narrative style which used quite a bit of repetition. For a portion of the tale, while Gilgamesh is walking through a valley, the tale makes it clear that the darkness was thick and there was no light, by repeating that sentence a good 8 or 9 times in as many lines. I decided to take that line and make a maze where the player cannot see the walls. Armed only with a small, inaccurate flash for light that lasts for a mere few seconds, the player must rely on their memory and patience in order to navigate their way out of this maze. This project was another case of balancing challenge and reward to create a game to keep players engaged.
